• Details:  This beautiful ceramic wash basin (bowl), and pitcher has a wonderfully fresh design, perfect for today's country and farmhouse decor!  Both pieces have lots of strawberries with their flowers and leaves all around the piece and they are bordered with an adorable dot pattern .  The shape of the pitcher puts this set over the top, it has a beautiful elongated spout and a patterned handle.  Both pieces are stamped on the bottom.  The pitcher reads: "Lord Nelson Pottery, England, 3-79".  The bowl reads: "Lord Nelson Pottery, Hand-Crafted in England since 1758, 1-79" and both have the crown and N logo.  Great set for a Lord Nelson Pottery collector.  Beautiful decor piece for a Country or Farmhouse styled home.

• Dimensions:  Pitcher: 6.0 inches Tall, 7.0 inches Wide (from handle to spout), Top opening is 4.0 inches in Diameter.  Wash Bowl: 9.5 inches in Diameter and 2.5 inches Tall. 
• Condition:   Vintage-Used.  Very Good Condition.  There is minor crazing and some discoloration as acceptable in these old pottery pieces.  There are no chips, cracks or scratches on either piece. Elijah Cotton Ltd. was founded by Elijah Cotton in 1880 in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.  Although the marks say "established in 1758", that is only in reference to the building Elijah occupied, a much older pottery had been established there in 1758.  The Nelson Ware brand was introduced in 1913.  During the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, Elijah Cotton Ltd. was one of the premier manufacturers in Stoke-on-Trent, and they were part of what is known as "The Potteries".  Nelson Pottery became popular for their jugs and became the largest manufacturer of jugs in the world.  When Elijah died, his oldest son, Edward, took over the business.  Late joined by his younger brother Arthur who was still running the business in 1956 with his son Nigel.  The brand "Lord Nelson Ware" was not introduced until the late 1940's or early 1950's.  Lord Nelson Ware was an extremely popular brand of pottery in the early-twentieth century and continued to be produced until 1981.
