The Art Deco illustration — cherub angels, flickering candles, devotional borders — accompanies May Stanley's poem of the same name, first published in her 1914 collection Minnesota Christmas and Other Verses. Stanley was a poet and journalist who wrote for the Duluth News Tribune and eventually for Musical America in New York; she won three posthumous Jessie Mackay Memorial Poetry Awards in 1946.
