The Chicago Cubs is one of the oldest baseball teams in the National League. Originally known as the "White Stockings",  they were founding members of the NL in 1876, becoming the Chicago Cubs in 1903. The Cubs have played in a total of eleven World Series.  They have had over 15 different logos throughout their more than 40-year history. Some of the emblems are absolutely unlike one another, but almost all of them have in common is the stylized letter “C”.   The alternate "Bear Head" logo we believe was first used in 1934 (an entire bear figure was used at that time), on alternate home jerseys.  The bear was within the letter C which has always represented the city of Chicago.  That full bear changed to a bear head in 1937 and the bear head has evolved since.  The one on this glass was used from 1994 to 1996.

Texaco was an independent company founded in Beaumont, Texas as the Texas Fuel Company in 1901,by Jim Hogg, Joseph S. Cullinan, John Warne Gates, and Arnold Schlaet. In 1928, Texaco became the first U.S. oil company to sell its gasoline nationwide under one single brand name in all 48 states.  Its logo features a white star in a red circle which is a reference to the lone star of Texas.  On February 8, 2002, Chevron Corporation merged with Texaco and Shell purchased Texaco's interests.  Shell began converting its Texaco stations to the Shell brand.  In July 2004, Chevron regained non-exclusive rights to the Texaco brand name in the US.  Chevron Corporation also sold its Conoco stations in Mississippi to the Texaco brand name.  If you're not seeing Texaco stations in your area, it is because in 2010, Texaco ended retail operations in the Mid-Atlantic US, removing its brand from 450 stations in Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, D.C.
