A proud American eagle — wings spread, amber eyes gleaming, three eaglets nestled beneath — rendered in Westmoreland's iconic milk glass. This is one of those pieces that earns its place on the shelf and keeps it.
This is the classic "Eagle on Nest" covered candy dish by Westmoreland Glass, in absolutely mint condition. The lid doubles as the eagle sculpture itself, lifting off to reveal the nest bowl beneath — perfect for candies, jewelry, or simply as a standalone display piece. Every detail is crisp and beautifully executed, from the texture of the feathers to the warm amber eyes.
Marked with Westmoreland's overlapping WG mark, used from 1940 through the 1980s. The Eagle on Nest design was introduced in the 1970s and remains one of the most beloved and collectible pieces in the Westmoreland catalog. A wonderful addition to any America 250th anniversary display, patriotic vignette, or milk glass collection.
Westmoreland Glass Company was founded in 1889 in Grapeville, Pennsylvania. For nearly a century they were one of America's premier makers of milk glass, producing elegant pressed glass pieces beloved by collectors to this day. They closed in 1984, making authentic marked pieces like this one increasingly hard to find.
