One hundred years of brotherhood — commemorated in hand-crafted porcelain. This Jim Beam figural decanter was issued in 1968 to mark the centennial of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, founded in New York City on February 16, 1868 by actor Charles Algernon Sidney Vivian and a group of fellow performers looking for a place to socialize after hours.
The decanter is a rich, warm brown porcelain with beautifully detailed elk and deer imagery, gold accents throughout, and the original foil label on the front — all intact. The tax strip is present, the gold is in excellent condition, and the cork is solid. At 13.5 inches tall it commands attention on a bar shelf or study bookcase, especially in autumn when the brown tones and wildlife theme feel perfectly seasonal.
Made by Regal China of Chicago exclusively for Jim Beam. Originally sold with Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, now empty. A wonderful gift for an Elks Lodge member, a fraternal organization collector, or any dad who appreciates a decanter with genuine historical significance.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was established in 1868 and chartered by Congress as a patriotic organization. Originally founded as a social club for performers and artists in New York City, it evolved into one of America's most prominent fraternal organizations, today boasting over 750,000 members and nearly 2,000 lodges across the country. Their motto: "The faults of our brothers we write upon the sand."
Jim Beam's Regal China figural decanter series ran from the 1950s through the 1980s and produced hundreds of designs — fraternal, commemorative, figural, and state-themed. Convention and centennial pieces like this one are among the most collectible.
