The lid alone would stop you in a shop — and then you'd notice the feet.

This antique vanity powder jar dates to the 1920s–1940s, the golden era of the dressing table as a room's most considered corner. The base is scalloped glass on three small feet; the lid is lacquered celluloid layered with floral decals and centered with a brass metal piece engraved with the initials A.E. — a piece made for someone specific, surviving beautifully into the present. No maker's mark has been found, which only adds to the mystery. The metal rim and monogram show gentle discoloration, the kind of patina that tells a story rather than diminishing one.

On a vanity, a dressing table, or a glass shelf — or given to someone whose initials happen to match. Either way, it arrives already carrying its own history.
