Description

  • Made in Japan
  • Vintage: 1960's - 1970's
  • Details:  This ceramic wash basin and pitcher has a very pretty design.  The pitcher has two hand painted flowers, one pink, one purple, and green leaves all around.  There are lots of scrolls around the rim as well as the handle.  The basin also has scrolls all around the rim, which is ruffled and it has a simple green stripe on the border.  It is stamped on the bottom with: "Hand Painted".  More importantly, this piece retains it's blue foil label which helps us identify it as Irice, Made in Japan , and therefore, helps us date it.  The foil sticker is on both the pitcher and wash bowl and it reads: I. W. Rice & Co. Inc., In Irice Import, Made in Japan".   Great decor for a bathroom, or as a bud vase.  Great gift for a collector!
  • Material:  Ceramic
  • Dimensions:  The pitcher is 3.75 inches Tall, and approx. 4.0 inches Long (including handle and spout) .  The wash bowl is 4.25 inches in Diameter and 3/4 of an inch Tall.  When placed together, it is 4.0 inches Tall.
  • Condition:   Vintage-Used.  Excellent Condition.  There are no chips, cracks or other damage on either piece.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are not new.  Every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear, and imperfections.  Refunds will not be given unless there's gross misrepresentation of condition.
  • Shipping is included on every order with some exceptions.  See FAQ's for exceptions.

I. W. Rice & Co (aka Irving W. Rice & Co), did not make this piece, they are a distributor who purchases inventory from all over the world and resells it under their brand.  There is conflicting information as to when they started, one source says 1905 and another 1920's but regardless of when they started, they are still around today, located in New York City.  They are best known for the beautiful perfume bottles and atomizers, some made of fine Czechoslovakian crystal they imported in the 1930's.  Later they started selling American made pieces, then from West Germany, Japan and today most of their imports are from Taiwan.
