I. W. Rice & Co (aka Irving W. Rice & Co), did not make this piece, they are a distributor who purchases inventory from all over the world and resells it under their brand. There is conflicting information as to when they started, one source says 1905 and another 1920's but regardless of when they started, they are still around today, located in New York City. They are best known for the beautiful perfume bottles and atomizers, some made of fine Czechoslovakian crystal they imported in the 1930's. Later they started selling American made pieces, then from West Germany, Japan and today most of their imports are from Taiwan.
