  • Details:  Each year a number of new rose varieties are chosen as All-American Rose Selection (AARS) winners by the American Rose Society.  The roses selected roses not only need to be beautiful but also must be easy to grow and adaptable to a wide range of climates. Roses that are selected have undergone a two-year trial at sites across the country.  This is a limited edition,  fine porcelain collector's plate series called "The American Rose Garden"  exclusively created by artist Paul J. Sweany, each plate is signed by the artist on the bottom right.  The firing was limited to only 14 days and all plates are numbered.   The plates have a beautiful cut-out/scalloped border with a gold rim.  You won't need to search for each plate and purchase one or two at a time and pay all those shipping charges, all eight plates in the collection are right here.  (SEE PICTURES).  This is a beautiful collection, would make a lovely wall decor in a dining room, sunroom or bedroom.  A great Mother's Day, Wedding or Birthday Gift for a rose lover, a gardener or just someone who appreciates flowers and nature.

  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Excellent Condition.  There are no chips, scratches, or crazing on any of the plates, the gold rim is in excellent condition as well. Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new.  Every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.  Refunds will not be given unless there’s gross misrepresentation of condition.

Paul J. Sweany was an avid nature lover and environmentalist, he saw beauty in even the most subtle and overlooked details which were depicted exquisitely in his  watercolor paintings.  Although he was best known for his watercolors, he was truly multi talented.  In 2001 when the the Indianapolis Arts Center held a retrospective of his work, it included: watercolors, oils, ceramics, enamel jewelry, intaglio, lithography, pen & ink, pencil, dry brush ink, silkscreen, photography and a book of his poetry. He was also an art teacher and for many years led art tours throughout Europe.  Paul Sweany was born in Indianapolis, IN, in 1927 and passed away July 13, 2009.
