- Details: This is the traditional, soda fountain, retro-look sundae glass cup used in malt shops years ago. It is ribbed and has gentle notches on the rim (meant to hold your straw in place). There are no markings on the bottom, many manufacturers did not originally mark their wares, this has a simple 8 on the bottom. We could not trace the provenance of this specific glass, we found they are still being made today, mostly overseas and still being sold in the U.S. However, the new ones we found are not ribbed, but rather have plain sides and they are not nearly as heavy glass as these are. Based on where we purchased this glass, I'm guessing it is from the 1970's, most likely made by Anchor Hocking or Arcoroc, they are known to stamp a number on their glassware. These glasses are heavy, the price reflects some of the extra shipping charges we incur.
