She founded Irene Pasinski Associates, a consumer product design firm, in 1956 and directed it until 1995, when William J. Kolano, who had joined the business in 1975, bought it and renamed it Kolano Design. Her clients included Lenox China, the Franklin Mint, and General Nutrition, and the firm designed the signs for Pittsburgh International Airport. She also taught painting and design at Carnegie Mellon, exhibited her abstract paintings with the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (serving as board member and president), and was named Kaufmann's woman-of-the-year in art in 1970. An Oakmont houseboat owner who pictured Pittsburgh's riverbanks green again, she originated the idea that became the Three Rivers Regatta, and she chaired the city's arts commission for six years.

Mt. Washington Glass was founded by Deming Jarves in 1837 in South Boston, and was among the oldest operating glasshouses in the country. It began as a small works known as Russell's Glass House, and the Mt. Washington Glass Works name first appears in print in 1857. In 1869–70 William Libbey moved the operation to New Bedford, Massachusetts, and in 1871 it was incorporated as the Mt. Washington Glass Works. Under manager Frederick Shirley, who ran it from 1874 to 1891, it moved from lighting and pressed glass into art glass, introducing its first art line in 1877 and Burmese glass in 1885, a heat-reactive glass that shades from yellow to salmon pink. Shirley presented Burmese pieces to Queen Victoria in 1886, and the company is also known for Peach Blow, mother of pearl satin glass, Cameo glass, and Coralene. Mt. Washington's glassmaking tradition continues today as Pairpoint Crystal.

Browse our shop for more glasses and barware to round out your collection.

https://www.antigotrunk.com/en-ca/products/glasses-highball-tumbler-stained-glass-pansies-by-pasinski-mt-washington-glass-set-of-6
