They created several series of historic and Oriental patterns.  Staffordshire is a region that was, (and still is), home to many English porcelain makers. the area is well known for \"Blue Ware\" a porcelain design that originated in Staffordshire.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePolychrome\u003c\/strong\u003e is the process of applying several colors by hand. Making multicolor (polychromatic) transferware was an expensive, time consuming combination of hand painting machined designs. The process was abandoned in the 1930s. According to his obituary, the company also imported both pottery and glass from Europe and the Orient. Selden in 1905.  He had developed an idea for a \"horseless carriage\" in 1877 but was not granted a patent until 1895.   The company produced cars for only three years, from 1909 through 1912. In 1913 the company was reorganized towards the production of trucks, where it had significantly more success, producing trucks until the company's sale to the Hahn Motor Truck Company of Hamburg, Pennsylvania, in 1930. In 1884 another Asturian immigrant from Arriondas, José Vega, became a partner and the firm name was changed to Garcia y Vega Cigar Co. In 1895 Pantaleón Félix Carcaba was added as a third partner and the firm name was changed to Garcia, Vega \u0026amp; Carcaba Cigar Co. In 1906 upon the sudden death of Carcaba the name was changed back to Garcia y Vega. They owned several brands such as: the Austino, El Mas Noble, La Flor de Alvaro Garcia Longo, Garcia y Vega, La Rosa de Mayo, Duquesita, La Perla Española, Flor de Garcia y Vega and Flor de P. F. Maximilian Godefroy,  and built between 1815 and 1825, it is 39 feet tall.  The monument was originally topped by an 8 feet tall, 2,750 pound Carrara marble statue by Antonio Capellano.  It is a female figure representing the City of Baltimore, she wears a crown of victory and holds a laurel wreath in one hand and a ship's rudder in the other, however, the original was moved to a museum and now a concrete replica stands in its place.  The statue is affectionately called Lady Baltimore.\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 1.4em;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eH.C. Pfaff started his company in 1890 in a small building on Mosher and Carey Streets in the downtown Baltimore MD. George Schafer started making cigars by hand in 1896.  Eventually the two companies merged and moved to Light and Lombard Streets.  They made several cigars: Uncle Willies, (their best seller), Fire King, Clifton Park, and Monument Square, perhaps others.  In the early 1920’s machine made cigars started to take over the industry,  hand rolled cigars couldn't compete and hundreds of cigar rollers became unemployed. In 1929 Schafer bought out Pfaff and Schafer’s nephews, Harry Sr and Ted Brockman, became the owners.  Schafer-Pfaff continued to make machine made cigars until 1963 when the company was bought by T E Brooks Company of Red Lion, PA. In the 2000's, it was called Hotel Sainte Claire.  Most recently it was renovated and named The Westin San Jose in 2015. Originally made in California, Wedgwood moved the Franciscan pottery production to England in 1983.
