Finney and Sons who also owned Blue Bell Pottery. The Finneys  produced fine bone china under the Duchess backstamp, the name we have known over the last 85 years.   In 1989 A.T. Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  All sales final.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNational Potteries Corporation, (Napco),\u003c\/strong\u003e was founded in Bedford, Ohio, in 1938 by Irwin Garber, David Rein and Mr. Payner.  They originally produced their own porcelain and glass but after World War II, Napco started importing collectible ceramic novelty items from Japan.  Those items so loved and collected today include: ceramic planters, decorative glass, novelty figurines and their ever famous Head Vases.  This helped Napco grow very fast in the 50's and 60's.  However, during the 1960's Napco faced hard competition from Lefton, Enesco, as well as from one of their own, Irwin Garber.  Irwin left Napco to start International Art Ware Corp (Inarco), which also imported glass and ceramics from Japan, including the head vases that had been so popular for Napco.  In 1986, Napco purchased Inarco and moved the company headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida where they remain today. Napco used a wide array of marks, some transfer marks and some paper labels. Pickard assembled a group of men and women china painters, many emigrating from Europe, to create this uniquely American style of hand-painted china. In 1897 they moved to Chicago, IL, many of the original artists were from the Art Institute of Chicago. At first all the porcelain was manufactured in Europe some pieces, such as this one, by the highly esteemed Rosenthal porcelain company in Bavaria, among others. Haviland \u0026amp; Company of New York.  But David moved to Limoges, France where he unwittingly reinvented the French fine china manufacturing process by both manufacturing and decorating blanks at the same location. A third brother, Robert, joined the company in 1852 and the name was changed to Haviland Brothers and Company.   The original offices in New York were closed in 1863 due to the American Civil War.  The Limoges factory, owned by David and his sons, Theodore and Charles Edward enjoyed a great measure of success until 1891.
