Here is a "brief" synopsis of this long lived American manufacturer. The company was started by Isaac J. Collins and six friends who raised $8,000 to buy the Lancaster Carbon Company in Lancaster, Ohio. The company, named for the Hocking River that is near where the plant was located. In 1924 a large fire reduced the company to ashes but Mr. Collins and his associates raised funding to build another plant (Plant 1). The new plant was specifically designed for the production of glassware. Later in that same year, the company also purchased controlling interest in the Lancaster Glass Company (later called Plant 2) and the Standard Glass Manufacturing Company with plants in Bremen and Canal Winchester, Ohio. In 1929 the stock market crashed and so did the country's economy, however, this company survived by developing a 15-mold machine that could produce 90 pieces of blown glass per minute. This allowed the company to sell lower priced items and survive the great depression. Hocking Glass Company entered the glass container business in 1931 with the purchase of 50% of the General Glass Company, which in turn acquired Turner Glass Company of Winchester, Indiana. Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation came into existence on December 31, 1937 when the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation and its subsidiaries merged with the Hocking Glass Company. The word "Glass" was dropped from the company's name in 1969 because the company had evolved into an international company with an infinite product list. They entered the plastic market in 1968 with the acquisition of Plastics Incorporated in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Newell Corporation acquired the Anchor Hocking Corporation on 2 July 1987. In 2012 Anchor Hocking merged with Oneida and created EveryWare Global. EveryWare Global filed for bankruptcy in 2015. EveryWare Global was renamed The Oneida Group in 2017 and it's the current owner of Anchor Hocking brand.

Vintage Amber Glass Bowl, Large Serving Bowl, Decorative Bowl, Manhattan Amber (aka St. Genevieve), Bartlett Collins, Indented Ovals,

Made: in USA

Vintage: 1960's

Details: This beautiful vintage Amber glass bowl from Bartlett Collins could serve as a Salad / Fruit Bowl and is perfect for your Thanksgiving or Fall table! Bartlett, an Oklahoma oil man, teamed up with George F. Collins, an East Coast glass man (of Premium Glass Co), and formed Bartlett-Collins Glass Co. The company was well known for its hand-pressed and blown tableware, stemware, and kitchenware and kitchen lamps. In 1918, Bartlett and Collins had a falling out and Collins took over one of the plants which became Liberty Glass Co. Although Collins had left, the name 'Collins' was kept because his son, J.W. Collins, remained the vice president. In 1929, the word 'Glass' was dropped from the name and the firm became Bartlett-Collins Co. By the 1930's Bartlett-Collins was making the stemware, all by hand, in different colors like: pink, green and amber. However, by 1941, due to the high costs, all hand made glass production had ceased. In 1982, the Lancaster Colony Corp. acquired Bartlett-Collins but kept the plant name. Lancaster Colony was the parent company of Indiana Glass. Bartlett-Collins made mold blown glass items for Indiana Glass and Tiara Exclusives. Bartlett-Collins continued to operate in Sapulpa until 2008 when Anchor Hocking Co. purchased the property and closed down the plant. The Windsor pattern has long been discontinued and it's history is a bit complex. It was introduced by Federal Glass (circa 1970), but Lancaster Colony, (the parent company to Indiana Glass), purchased Federal Glass molds after Federal Glass closed (1980). Indiana Glass used the original Federal Glass molds and reissued the Windsor pattern in the 1980's. Some of the reissues were marketed as Windsor, others were marketed as Royal Brighton, all mostly in color glass. We believe this piece to be original from Federal Glass. This geometric pattern would look great in a traditional as well as modern style table setting. We've seen this styled not with cake but with different size candles, just beautiful! This is a wonderful piece of American glass history. We have other pieces in the Windsor pattern, please search our site, you may be able to find additional pieces for your collection.

Material: Pressed Glass

Dimensions: 11.0 inches in Diameter and 4.5 inches Tall

Condition: Vintage - Used. Very Good Condition. There are no chips, only very minor surface scratches as acceptable due to age/use/wear. Please make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns. Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

The Federal Glass Company was founded in 1900, in Columbus Ohio. The company began operations making salt and pepper shakers, goblets, measuring cups, and jars for processed foods. By the 1920's they had expanded and were making tableware, with patterns which we now call, "Depression Glass" such as: Madrid, Colonial, Normandie, Mayfair, Raindrops, Parrot, Diana, etc. Federal went bankrupt in 1977 - 1978, they finally closed down in 1980. When Federal Glass went out of business, Lancaster Colony, (the parent company to Indiana Glass), purchased their molds and Indiana Glass re-issued this pattern, Windsor, in the 1970's, but in color glass: olive green as well as a gold-tone (like amber), carnival glass and also a milk glass version. The Windsor pattern was first produced by Federal Glass in early 1970's, in clear only. Contrary to much information you find online, this Windsor pattern is NOT Depression Glass and it is not listed in any Depression Glass books we own. The Jeannette Glass "Windsor Diamond" is a Depression Glass pattern (made from 1936 to 1946), and that may have created some of the confusion.

Vintage Glass Cake Stand, Harp by Jeannette Glass (Scalloped Gold Trim), Elegant Serveware, Pedestal Serving Plate, Tableware, (Discontinued)

Made in USA

Vintage: 1954 – 1957

Details: This is such a beautiful and subdued pattern, it is called "Harp" because it has pretty harp-like pressed glass designs along with the swirls and stippling. We darkened the pictures a bit to show all the detail. This cake stand has the scalloped edge rimmed in gold. The pattern continues on the base which is also rimmed in gold. So beautiful on your holiday table, snacks for your book club meeting, musical recital after-party, and simple enough for your everyday table too.

Material: Glass

Dimension: 10.0 inches in Diameter and 4.75 inches Tall

Condition: Vintage - Used. Excellent Condition. From 1874 to about 1897 skilled artisans produced lamps, tableware, glass vessels and containers. Glass-production techniques included free-blowing, mould-blowing and pressing into a mould. The glassware was decorated using different methods like: cutting, painting, sand-blasting, acid-etching and wheel-engraving. From 1840 to 1890 the glass business was a time of uncertainty and instability; anyone attempting to enter this market had to to contend with strong competition from the American companies, unfortunately, this led to the bankruptcy of Burlington Glass Works. Hamilton Glass Works bought Burlington Glass Works initially to discourage new competition and it became the most productive of the two plants. Fenton and his brother John W. Fenton in an old glass factory building in Martins Ferry, Ohio. At first they did not make their own glass, they would paint decorations on glass blanks made by others. In 1907 the operation moved to Williamstown, West Virginia, where Fenton started making their own glass. In late 1907, Fenton introduced "Iridescent" glass, which we know today as "Carnival" glass, still a very popular collectible. During the 1930's and 1940's, Fenton produced practical items, such as mixing bowls and tableware to get through the depression and WWII. In the late 1940's, the top three members of the Fenton management team died. Two of the younger Fenton family members, Frank M Fenton and Bill C. Fenton stepped in, and led the Fenton factory through significant American growth for the next 30 years. In 1986, the third generation of Fenton's took over, George W. Fenton, Frank M's son, became President. Unfortunately, in 2011 the company closed its glass making factory. Mosser Glass Company of Ohio purchased the Fenton molds. For more than 100 years, Fenton art glass was the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States. Smith Glass Company has been in business for over 100 years. Originally founded in 1907 by Louis E. Smith and Charles Wible. They used Smith's name because they thought it was easier to remember than "Wible." In 1909, the L.E. Smith Glass Co. of Jeannette, PA, purchased the Mt. Pleasant, PA plant of the Anchor Glass Co. (in a bankruptcy sale), which then re-opened under Smith in January 1910. Mr. Smith didn't stay with the company very long, he left the company in 1911, became a salesman for Westmoreland Glass, however, his name continued to be used. L.E. Smith began producing colored glass in the mid 1920’s, making pink, green, amber, yellow, amethyst and cobalt pieces as early as 1926. In the late 1920’s, Smith Glass devised a formula for black glass that set it apart from other manufacturers. The company expanded to make depression glass dinnerware, hurricane lamps, lamp shades, perfume bottles, cigarette lighters, etc. In the 1950's, they expanded again into decorative glassware. In the 1960's they experimented with iridescent glass and in January 1971 they went into production with Contemporary Carnival Glass Also in 1971, the company was purchased by Owens-Illinois, with Smith operating as a wholly owned subsidiary. L.E. Smith stopped production in June 2004 and was nearing liquidation when Scottish-born Pittsburgh businessman William Kelman purchased the company, they were unable to grow the business and Smith Glass was sold in bankruptcy in 2005.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/1733/8577/products/IMG_5260-scaled_02089f9e-963b-4b59-b53a-5918808ac9d6.jpg?v=1691246719
vintage-viking-glass-epic-6-petal-amber-footed-candy-dish-compote-swedish-modern
Comport / Compote, Viking Epic 6 Petal, Amber Glass, Pedestal Bowl, Vintage

Vintage Pedestal Bowl, Viking Glass Footed Bowl, Amber Epic 6 petal, Comport / Compote, Elegant Decor, Vintage Collectible, Amber Glass, (Discontinued)

Made in: New Martinsville, West Virginia. A. Sebring in 1887 in Sebring, Ohio. They produced porcelain products like those made in Europe even though it was extremely expensive to import materials and talent. Three years after opening there was a very large fire that completely destroyed all records, including their formulas and equipment. They rebuilt and Limoges began producing earthenware and semi-porcelain products. To save money they used decals rather than hand painting the patterns. In the late 1940's they were threatened with a lawsuit by the French Limoges Company so they started to mark their products American Limoges and the name was changed to the American Limoges China Company. Due to several other slight variations of their name, you will find the backstamps to vary on different patterns but it always contains the word "Limoges". The American Limoges China Company filed bankruptcy in 1955 and was closed.

Vintage Serving Plate / Chop Plate, Bavaria Germany, Apples Plate, Apple Orchard / SCH16, German Porcelain, Elegant Tableware, Kitchen Decor, Mid Century, Large Serving Plate, (Discontinued)

Made in Bavaria, Germany

Vintage: 1960 - 1970

Details: This is a beautiful porcelain platter, or chop plate, made in Germany by Schumann Arzberg. It has a gorgeous decoration of apples and nuts in vibrant colors. We don't believe this pattern had a name, simply known as SCH16, but we like the name Apple Orchard. There are smaller fruits scattered around the border which has a pretty embossed porcelain design, and gold rim. The backstamp includes the Schumann Arzberg logo: "Bavaria Schumann Arzberg Germany" plus it has the blue E&R logo. This backstamp was used between 1960 and 1970, the Golden Crown E&R relationship with Schumann ended in 1976 so we can safely assume this platter is from that time frame. This would make a wonderful gift.
