It was strictly a retail division and did not manufacture any glass. Indiana Glass was the primary supplier, as both companies belonged to Lancaster Colony Corp., but other glass manufacturers like Fenton and L.E. Smith made pieces for Tiara using old molds. Cameo Black was made by Indiana Glass and marketed through Tiara in 1977. It is the same pattern as Diamond Point, which Indiana Glass had sold starting in 1965; it proved one of their most popular patterns, so they reissued it in black glass as Cameo Black for Tiara. In 1882, brothers Alvin and William Woolson acquired the brand and built it into the flagship product of their Woolson Spice Company, based on North Summit Street in Toledo. Woolson was an early and aggressive user of premium marketing — every package included a collectible picture card like this one, and customers could also mail in cut-out lion's-head trademarks from the packaging for prizes, a strategy that helped make Lion Coffee one of the best-known grocery brands in the country by the turn of the century. Woolson Spice Co. remained in business until 1920, and remarkably, the Lion Coffee brand itself survived: it was acquired by Delano West Ltd. of Hawai'i in 1979 and is still sold today.

This card was part of a matched harvest-and-pastoral series — pair it with our companion Lion Coffee trade card featuring a milkmaid and cow at a pond and a Milton verse, from the same Bufford printing, to display the set together. Jenkins Sons Music Co. of Kansas City, a firm that issued popular songs, waltzes, and orchestra arrangements through the early twentieth century. Lucien Denni wrote the music and Gwynne Denni the lyric, a sentimental love song about searching for a sweetheart and finding her at last. The song was a hit of the day: Victor released a recording in 1924, and it was later taken up by dance orchestras and, decades afterward, the Andrews Sisters. Jenkins issued several editions of the song. Another cover features Broadway star Elsie Janis, and library records tie the song to her revue Puzzles of 1925. This edition instead highlights De Pasquali, whose billing signals the song's appeal to concert and parlor singers as well as dance-band audiences. The sheet music itself was a household staple of the era, bought at music shops and played at the family piano. The back-cover advertisement calls the show a "$200,000.00" production. The song was recorded within months, and Joseph C. Smith's Orchestra cut a Victor fox trot medley including it in August 1920, while tenor John Steel, who sings "The Girls of My Dreams" in the show, also recorded it.
