Here is a "brief" synopsis of this long lived American manufacturer. The company was started by Isaac J. Collins and six friends who raised $8,000 to buy the Lancaster Carbon Company in Lancaster, Ohio. The company, named for the Hocking River that is near where the plant was located. In 1924 a large fire reduced the company to ashes but Mr. Collins and his associates raised funding to build another plant (Plant 1). The new plant was specifically designed for the production of glassware. Later in that same year, the company also purchased controlling interest in the Lancaster Glass Company (later called Plant 2) and the Standard Glass Manufacturing Company with plants in Bremen and Canal Winchester, Ohio. In 1929 the stock market crashed and so did the country's economy, however, this company survived by developing a 15-mold machine that could produce 90 pieces of blown glass per minute. This allowed the company to sell lower priced items and survive the great depression. Hocking Glass Company entered the glass container business in 1931 with the purchase of 50% of the General Glass Company, which in turn acquired Turner Glass Company of Winchester, Indiana. Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation came into existence on December 31, 1937 when the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation and its subsidiaries merged with the Hocking Glass Company. The word "Glass" was dropped from the company's name in 1969 because the company had evolved into an international company with an infinite product list. They entered the plastic market in 1968 with the acquisition of Plastics Incorporated in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Newell Corporation acquired the Anchor Hocking Corporation on 2 July 1987. In 2012 Anchor Hocking merged with Oneida and created EveryWare Global. EveryWare Global filed for bankruptcy in 2015. EveryWare Global was renamed The Oneida Group in 2017 and it's the current owner of Anchor Hocking brand.

Vintage Amber Glass Bowl, Large Serving Bowl, Decorative Bowl, Manhattan Amber (aka St. Genevieve), Bartlett Collins, Indented Ovals,

Made: in USA

Vintage: 1960's

Details: This beautiful vintage Amber glass bowl from Bartlett Collins could serve as a Salad / Fruit Bowl and is perfect for your Thanksgiving or Fall table! Bartlett, an Oklahoma oil man, teamed up with George F. Collins, an East Coast glass man (of Premium Glass Co), and formed Bartlett-Collins Glass Co. The company was well known for its hand-pressed and blown tableware, stemware, and kitchenware and kitchen lamps. In 1918, Bartlett and Collins had a falling out and Collins took over one of the plants which became Liberty Glass Co. Although Collins had left, the name 'Collins' was kept because his son, J.W. Collins, remained the vice president. In 1929, the word 'Glass' was dropped from the name and the firm became Bartlett-Collins Co. By the 1930's Bartlett-Collins was making the stemware, all by hand, in different colors like: pink, green and amber. However, by 1941, due to the high costs, all hand made glass production had ceased. In 1982, the Lancaster Colony Corp. acquired Bartlett-Collins but kept the plant name. Lancaster Colony was the parent company of Indiana Glass. Bartlett-Collins made mold blown glass items for Indiana Glass and Tiara Exclusives. Bartlett-Collins continued to operate in Sapulpa until 2008 when Anchor Hocking Co. purchased the property and closed down the plant. This is an antique pattern, first seen in the 1859 McKee catalog on an urn with lid and it was called "Band Pattern". The bowl may have been released later circa 1920's - 1930's. If any of these dates are important to you, please let us know so we can send you the desired plate. They all have the old backstamp, ours is red: "Spode's Jewel, Copeland, Spode England, Reg No 70392 U.S. Pat. In 1833 Spode was purchased by a partner of Josiah Spode III named William Taylor Copeland. Mr. Taylor entered into a partnership with colleague Thomas Garrett, and the firm was known as Copeland & Garrett until 1847. After 1847 the business continued until 1970 as W.T. Copeland and sons, and again the term 'Spode' or 'Late Spode' continued in use alongside the name of Copeland. The company was sold to the Carborundum Company Ltd. by the Copeland family in 1966. In honor of the company's 200th anniversary in 1970, the name was changed back to "Spode" in honor of its founder, Josiah Spode. Spode merged with the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company in 1976 to form Royal Worcester Spode, however, the purchase did not include Royal Worcester or Spode manufacturing facilities. In 2006, the business merged with Royal Worcester. It was founded by Beatrice L. Miller, William H. Habenstreit and John Bert Briggs. They started low funds, workers agreed to work without pay until business grew. Originally their inexpensive dishware was sold at dime stores or were given away as premiums in grocery stores and gas stations. But their wares gained popularity quickly, their most popular pattern during this time was “Blue Willow”. In 1943, the plant was converted to produce china and porcelain. In 1949-1950, they introduced a new line called “Currier Ives” which became even more popular than Blue Willow. The C & I patterns were made in green, brown, blue and pink, from 1949–1986. By 1965, Royal was the largest in the U.S.. Mr. Miller retired in 1969 and sold the plant to the Jeannette Glass Co. of Pennsylvania. In the 1970's after having to rebuild due to a fire, they became the largest dinnerware plant in Sebring, and the third largest in the United States. Jeannette Glass/Royal was purchased by Coca Cola Bottling Co, and then was sold to an investors group, The J Corporation. By 1986 all operations had ended. An interesting fact about this company, when Miss Miller went to the bank with the proposal to purchase the building, she was turned away because in those days a woman in manufacturing was practically unheard of, so Mr. Habenstreit had to go back to the same bank. He was approved for the loan.

Pattern: Vintage Plates, Fruit Garland by Royal Kent, Vintage Fruit Theme Plates, Vintage Bread & Butter Plates, (Discontinued)

Made in Poland

Vintage: 1970's

Details: A really beautiful set of Bread & Butter plates, with lots of fruits all around the border. The pattern consists of several fruits: plums, pears, cherries, blackberries, strawberries and apples along the border with scattered tiny blue flowers. The colors are beautiful, plus the entire border is embossed with a very pretty swirl pattern. The edge is scalloped and has a gold rim, overall a beautiful looking set of plates. Because the pattern has so many colors, it will match several different table settings. Although it is a Bread & Butter plate, the 7 inch size is perfect as a dessert plate, for appetizers, or for serving cookies to guests. The Windsor pattern has long been discontinued and it's history is a bit complex. It was introduced by Federal Glass (circa 1970), but Lancaster Colony, (the parent company to Indiana Glass), purchased Federal Glass molds after Federal Glass closed (1980). Indiana Glass used the original Federal Glass molds and reissued the Windsor pattern in the 1980's. Some of the reissues were marketed as Windsor, others were marketed as Royal Brighton, all mostly in color glass. We believe this piece to be original from Federal Glass. This geometric pattern would look great in a traditional as well as modern style table setting. We've seen this styled not with cake but with different size candles, just beautiful! This is a wonderful piece of American glass history. We have other pieces in the Windsor pattern, please search our site, you may be able to find additional pieces for your collection.

Material: Pressed Glass

Dimensions: 11.0 inches in Diameter and 4.5 inches Tall

Condition: Vintage - Used. Very Good Condition. There are no chips, only very minor surface scratches as acceptable due to age/use/wear. Please make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns. Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

The Federal Glass Company was founded in 1900, in Columbus Ohio. The company began operations making salt and pepper shakers, goblets, measuring cups, and jars for processed foods. By the 1920's they had expanded and were making tableware, with patterns which we now call, "Depression Glass" such as: Madrid, Colonial, Normandie, Mayfair, Raindrops, Parrot, Diana, etc. Federal went bankrupt in 1977 - 1978, they finally closed down in 1980. When Federal Glass went out of business, Lancaster Colony, (the parent company to Indiana Glass), purchased their molds and Indiana Glass re-issued this pattern, Windsor, in the 1970's, but in color glass: olive green as well as a gold-tone (like amber), carnival glass and also a milk glass version. The Windsor pattern was first produced by Federal Glass in early 1970's, in clear only. Contrary to much information you find online, this Windsor pattern is NOT Depression Glass and it is not listed in any Depression Glass books we own. The Jeannette Glass "Windsor Diamond" is a Depression Glass pattern (made from 1936 to 1946), and that may have created some of the confusion.

Vintage Glass Cake Stand, Harp by Jeannette Glass (Scalloped Gold Trim), Elegant Serveware, Pedestal Serving Plate, Tableware, (Discontinued)

Made in USA

Vintage: 1954 – 1957

Details: This is such a beautiful and subdued pattern, it is called "Harp" because it has pretty harp-like pressed glass designs along with the swirls and stippling. We darkened the pictures a bit to show all the detail. This cake stand has the scalloped edge rimmed in gold. The pattern continues on the base which is also rimmed in gold. So beautiful on your holiday table, snacks for your book club meeting, musical recital after-party, and simple enough for your everyday table too.

Material: Glass

Dimension: 10.0 inches in Diameter and 4.75 inches Tall

Condition: Vintage - Used. Excellent Condition. Corning Glass Works offered its first patterned gift set in 1953 when the Heinz Baking Dish was sold in grocery stores. A large range of patterns were designed after the overwhelming success of the 1956 release of seasonal “decorator casseroles”. Corning Glass Works offered its first patterned gift set in 1953 when the Heinz Baking Dish was sold in grocery stores. In 1970 another merger, this time Etco Industries became a division of Baltimore-based American Trading and Production Corporation. Sohn had less control of the company and was not able to experiment as he once did, he lost interest in the business and retired in 1978. After his retirement, American Trading and Production Corporation used the Ernest Sohn Creations brand and continued to produce Sohn designs for several years after. Several of Soh's designs received awards and have been included in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Ernest Sohn died in May 2006 at the age of 92.

Vintage Pyrex Casseroles, Cinderella "Butterfly Gold 2" and "Woodland Leaves", with Glass Lid, Bakeware, Ovenware, Vintage Kitchen, Retro Oven to Table Cookware, (Discontinued)

Made in: USA

Vintage: Woodland Leaves: 1978 - 1983

Vintage: Butterfly Gold 2: 1979 - 1981

Details: These vintage Pyrex casseroles are in the Cinderella shape, #473-B, they hold 1 Quart. We are offering two casserole dishes with one Lid, (#470-C17), that fits both. The patterns are both from the 1970's and very retro. "Butterfly Gold" was released in 1972 but then re-released in 1979 with this slightly altered version designed Gregory Mirow. "Woodland Leaves" was released in 1978. Both patterns were released as coordinating pieces to the Corelle Dinnerware sets that were becoming very popular They are embossed on the bottom: "473-B, 1 QT., PYREX, For Oven and Microwave No Stove Top or Broiler, Corning N.Y.
